Braces installation

In the modern world, it is important to have not only healthy teeth but also a charming smile.

According to specialists, charismatic and self-confident individuals who have an open, white-toothed smile are successful in both personal and professional life. Orthodontics deals with the problems of ideal tooth alignment — modern technologies allow aligning the dental arch and correcting the bite at any age.

According to statistics, about 90% of people worldwide, both in childhood and adulthood, need orthodontic assistance. Incorrect bite not only causes psychological discomfort but can also lead to gum and tooth diseases. The solution to orthodontic problems is often a guarantee of successful subsequent prosthetics and tooth implantation for patients and, in some cases, even allows avoiding these procedures. In addition, sometimes orthodontic treatment can prevent surgical procedures aimed at treating dental anomalies. Correcting your teeth’s bite is the first step to a beautiful smile.

WHAT ARE BRACES

One of the methods of bite correction is the bracket system, which allows achieving an irresistible smile without additional efforts from the patient.

Usually, a set of braces consists of twenty pieces, ten of which are attached to the upper teeth, and the second half — to the lower ones. A bracket is a complex in configuration and jewelry in execution product that is attached to the tooth with special glue and helps the teeth move in the desired direction.

The power wire, a bracket-attached arch, constantly exerts slight but continuous pressure, helping to straighten the tooth root, shorten or lengthen the tooth, and rotate it around its axis — doing everything to make the teeth alignment even and the jaw closure correct.

At the site of connective tissue fiber stretching, new bone is formed, which supports the correct alignment of the dental arch and contributes to the correction of the tooth bite. This useful biological property is maintained throughout life and with proper tooth care becomes a guarantee of your irresistible smile.

BRACE TYPES

All bracket systems are divided into two groups: vestibular (those installed on the outer surface of the dental arch) and lingual (translated from Latin meaning “lingual”), installed inside the oral cavity. Metal, plastic, ceramic, and sapphire braces are vestibular.

Metal braces are made of medical-grade stainless steel; they are relatively inexpensive and have their advantages — they have a weaker friction force between the bracket and the power arch, which contributes to faster tooth movement. However, such braces are visible on the teeth.

Ceramic and plastic braces are less noticeable, although they have steel fasteners.

Sapphire braces are transparent and visually almost merge with the teeth. Thanks to their structure, sapphire braces have excellent strength since they are made of artificial sapphire crystal.

However, only lingual bracket systems are absolutely invisible on the teeth since they are located on the surface of the teeth facing the tongue — such a location of the brackets makes them completely invisible to others. However, the patient pays for this with a long period of adaptation to the apparatus.

In some cases, orthodontic treatment contributes to the correction not only of tooth position but also of profile defects and facial asymmetry. Any bracket system is selected by an orthodontist individually depending on the patient’s tooth condition and only after diagnostics and treatment planning.
