Consultation and comprehensive diagnostics are key to establishing the correct diagnosis and achieving optimal results in dental treatment.
Patients are referred to a dental orthopedist and implant surgeon in case of the following problems:
- Absence of 1 or more teeth
- Trauma to the hard tissues of the tooth
- Need for tooth extraction
- Crack or destruction in the root of the tooth
- Presence of neoplasms in the oral cavity
- Incorrect physiological bite (occlusion)
- Tooth and jaw injuries
- Acute and chronic inflammatory processes in the oral cavity, such as abscesses
- Narrowing of the airways leading to obstructive sleep apnea
- Bruxism
Consultation and diagnostics using computer tomography (CT). Consultation with a dental orthopedist is necessary if a patient has partially or completely lost teeth and wants to restore the chewing function of the teeth and the aesthetics of the smile. The future implant prosthetics involves close collaboration between the dental orthopedist and the implant surgeon, where it is the orthopedist who conducts the initial consultation and determines the location for implant placement.
To identify the correct physiological bite before prosthetics, orthodontic consultation is necessary. Prolonged absence of teeth leads to deformation of the bone tissue, changes in bite, and the appearance of pain and “clicking” in the temporomandibular joint. The presence of these problems becomes an obstacle to prosthetics. In such cases, orthodontic treatment is carried out before prosthetics depending on the condition of the teeth and gums.
Thanks to comprehensive diagnostic research, all hidden diseases or defects, as well as features of the anatomical structure of the oral cavity, will be identified. Diagnosis can help avoid tooth extraction, preserving its life for many years.
Before visiting the doctor, each patient fills out a health questionnaire to record the obtained data on diseases and other information that needs to be taken into account in future treatment.
When visiting the dentist, it is recommended to bring: X-ray or 3D image (computer tomography) or orthopantomogram, as well as all previous images taken to recreate a complete picture of the disease development dynamics.
